Dear Enrichment Parents and Students,
We have completed another year in Enrichment filled with exciting activities, fun topics, and lots of learning. I have thoroughly enjoyed our studies of Asia and explorations related to Star Wars, science fiction, and space. Be sure to check out the photos I uploaded on the "Photo Archives" tab on the website.
There will be many changes at Rolesville Elementary in the next couple of years. Our school will be renovated, classrooms will be built, and new challenges will be overcome. As we transition, classes will be held in trailers and construction will be ongoing. Teachers and students will be expected to demonstrate increased responsibility and resourcefulness.
Unfortunately, due to factors beyond our control, enrichment classes will no longer be available at our school. This makes me very sad, because I delight in providing activities for students who need expanded learning opportunities. Over the years, the students and I have virtually traveled the world, experienced adventures in historical times, learned survival skills, and explored the worlds of wild and domesticated animals. We have built bridges and towers, created inventions and mansions, and envisioned the future. Students have learned to speak in front of their peers, create quality projects, and demonstrate leadership skills. It is my greatest wish that my students have been inspired to be lifelong learners, capable of achieving their dreams.
Although I will no longer have enrichment classes, I will still be teaching at Rolesville. Next year I will go back to teaching fourth grade. I am looking forward to the challenges of having my own group of students to inspire.
Have a wonderful summer and be sure to come see me next year. I will give you a big silent wave when I see you in the halls!
Farewell,
Betty Stephan
